Planning

On this page I will be uploading the planning for our final film opening production. I am working with Sam and we have colaborated ideas and settled with the theme of murder mystery. This is because this theme is highly popular and interests the both of us also.

The first thing we did was create possible film treatments and taglines, here are some of my ideas:

Film treatment and tagline

A young girl goes missing and never returns, what happened to her?

Tagline ideas:

He’s round the corner…

A lot to be discovered

Found dead or alive?

Treatment- explanation about what your film is going to be about

Media production

A mother goes to collect her daughter from school and she is nowhere to be seen. The last person to see her alive was an old lady who lives on the hillside. She saw the girl crying in the back of a red car. The question is will she be found dead or alive?

Think Prisoners meets The Call

We decided to change our idea slightly from a young girl going missing to a teenage boy. We wanted him to look stronger therefor it be more mysterious that he goes missing.

Our film opening is about a young boy who happens to go missing. Everything started off okay for him that day; he got up at the normal time for a school day, got ready and travelled on his bike as he usually would. Although he didn’t get to where he wanted to go which was school. The last shot we see is of his bike stranded on the single path in the woods. If we finished our film it would be about how the boy gets found (if he ever does get found) and what happened to the boy would also get figured out. We’ve decided the boy gets kidnapped so the reason for this would also be a mystery waiting to be unsolved.

Here is our screenplay for our new idea:

Our screenplay is very short as there is no dialogue in our film opening, we wanted to keep it suspicious. However we have included the different shot types and settings for the production.

Arrangement of titles

We made a timeline displaying which titles we will be displaying in our production ‘Finding Jack’ and in which order they will be presented we also explained underneath why we wanted them to appear this way. As inspiration we looked at a different film and how they display their titles ‘Kiss Kiss Bang Bang’ this helped us make decisions on our titles and gave us useful ideas.

We created a storyboard for our production ‘Finding Jack’. Our storyboard included the shot types and settings of our film production. Here it is below:
